Countdown to the BAALA 2025 Conference

Welcome to the Batho Abantu African Languages Association (BAALA)

Discover the vibrant world of African languages and their pivotal role in education, culture, and technology. BAALA is committed to promoting the development, preservation, and intellectualisation of Indigenous African languages. We serve as a hub for researchers, educators, and language enthusiasts to explore innovative strategies for integrating African languages into higher education and the digital era.

Academic Research and Collaboration

BAALA fosters an academic platform for researchers and educators to collaborate on the preservation, revitalisation, and intellectualisation of African languages. This includes organising conferences, publishing academic papers, and providing avenues for dialogue and innovation in areas such as multilingual education, linguistics, and language policy.

Language Development and Advocacy

The association is dedicated to advancing the development of African languages by addressing challenges such as terminology development, digitalisation, and indigenous knowledge systems. BAALA also advocates for the integration of African languages into education and other societal domains, supporting their use in both local and global contexts.

Training and Capacity Building

BAALA offers opportunities for individuals and institutions to develop their understanding and application of African languages. This includes workshops, and resources for translation, interpretating, and the effective use of African languages in professional and academic settings.

Join us in advancing the revitalisation of our linguistic heritage through collaboration, research, and meaningful dialogue. Be part of a movement shaping the future of African languages as tools for empowerment, knowledge, and identity in the 21st century. Welcome to a community where words truly matter.
